Ugu is a district within the province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. It has 722,484 inhabitants (as of October 2011) on a total area of ​​5,047 square kilometers (as of August 2016). The district administration is based in Port Shepstone .

The district name refers to the isiZulu word for coast .

In 2016, the parishes of Ezinqoleni and Hibiscus Coast were merged into Ray Nkonyeni parish . The municipality of Vulamehlo was divided; one part went to eThekwini outside the district, the other to uMdoni.
