King Cetshwayo (2016 uThungulu ) is a district in the province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa . It has 907,519 inhabitants (as of October 2011) on a total area of ​​8,213 km². The district administration is based in Richards Bay .

The district is named after the king of the Zulu Cetshwayo kaMpande , who worked in the area. The former name uThungulu is derived from the Amathungulu bush ( Carissa macrocarpa (Eckl.) A.DC.), which grows here along the coast.
