Rayarala Vijay Kumar (born October 15, 1969 in Khammam , Khammam district ) is an Indian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Srikakulam .

Life

Rayarala Vijay Kumar joined in 1990 the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions in, put on 25 August 1997, the perpetual profession from and received on 29 August 1998 in the Cathedral of Khammam the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After being ordained a priest, he was initially active in vocational ministry in Eluru , India . From 2000 to 2003 he studied at the Department of San Luigi the Theological Faculty of Central Italy in Posillipo , and acquired the Licentiate in Biblical Theology . He then worked for three years as a missionary and pastor in Papua New Guinea . From 2006 to 2008 he was initially deputy rector of the Rehabilitation Center for Lepers in Bombay , which he then headed until 2014. Since 2014 he was regional superior of his religious community in India and member of the college of consultors of the diocese of Eluru .

On July 16, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Srikakulam. The Archbishop of Visakhapatnam , Prakash Mallavarapu , ordained him episcopal on September 2 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Hyderabad , Thumma Bala , and the Bishop of Nellore , Doraboina Moses Prakasam .
