Recep is a former village in the Çermik district of the Turkish province of Diyarbakır . Recep is located about 117 km west of the provincial capital Diyarbakır and 28 km south of Çermik. According to the last census, Recep had 226 inhabitants (2014). Since a regional reform in 2014, the place has been part of the district town of Çermik.
The population consists mainly of Sunni Turks . Along with Aralık , Bakacak , Eliaçık , Karamusa , Köseli , Türkmenhacı and Ulutürk, Recep is one of the few villages in the Diyarbakır province that has been populated by Turks.
