The Rechenberg is about 630 m above sea level. NHN high, partly wooded mountain in the Franconian Alb in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . It is one of the highest elevations in the district.
geography
location
The partly wooded Rechenberg rises in the southwest of the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district. The mountain is separated from the Rohrach valley (Westliche Rohrach) by the Hahnenkamm ridge in the east . To the west lies the Westheim district of Ostheim , to the east Heidenheim . In the northeast are the deserted Kirschenmühle , Gärtnershof and Krämershof . At around 595 meters above sea level, the village of Kohlhof is located east of the mountain peak . Several tributaries of the Bruckbach and Rohrach have their source on the mountain , including the Roethgraben . The Rechenberg is situated in the Altmühltal nature park in a conservation area .
South of the summit is a trigonometric point ( ⊙ ) at a height of 628.2 m .
Natural allocation
The Rechenberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Keuper-Lias-Land (No. 11), in the main unit foreland of the Southern Franconian Jura (110) and in the subunit Hahnenkamm-Vorland (110.2) to the natural area of the Hahnenkamm-Vorberge (110.21), whereby its area in the west drops into the Hahnenkamm-Liasgürtel (110.20).
history
The noble family of the same name, the Rechenbergs, came from Ostheim . She resided at Rechenberg Castle on the south-western flank of the mountain.
During the German Peasants' War on May 7, 1525, the rebellious peasants suffered a heavy defeat on the Rechenberg against the margravial troops of Kasimir .
