The Rechtebachtal near Georgenborn is a nature reserve in the district of Georgenborn and Martinsthal in the Rheingau-Taunus district in the German state of Hesse .

The 18.48 hectare protected area in the natural area of the Rheingau-Wiesbadener Vortaunus (part of the Vortaunus ) consists of two parts along the Rechtebach, an orographically left tributary of the Walluf .
The Rechtebach rises in the northern part of the nature reserve east of Georgenborn , which belongs to the community of Schlangenbad . It flows south and crosses under the state road L 3441. To the south of it, the stream crosses the Rheinsteig hiking trail and leaves the nature reserve and the Rheingau-Taunus district . The brook flows within the Frauenstein district of the city of Wiesbaden through the landscape protection area Stadt Wiesbaden , east of the brook is the Terra Levis cemetery and the source of the Erlenbach with the nature reserve Sommerberg near Frauenstein . After about a kilometer, the stream flows into the district of Martinsthal in the town of Eltville am Rhein and thus reaches the southern part of the nature reserve. After around 3 km, the stream flows north of Rauenthal into the Walluf , which flows into the Rhine in Niederwalluf .

The purpose of the nature reserve is to preserve the near-natural stream and the adjacent grassland and forest areas as a habitat for rare and endangered animal and plant species.
history
On December 3, 1986, an area of 35.18 hectares in the districts of Georgenborn and Martinsthal in the Rheingau-Taunus district and Frauenstein was temporarily secured for a period of three years in order to be designated as a nature reserve. On November 21, 1989, a smaller area without the areas in Frauenstein was designated as a nature reserve.
