Regina Iossifowna Tyschkewitsch ( Russian Регина Иосифовна Тышкевич , Belarusian Рэгіна Іосіфаўна Тышкевіч * 20th October 1929 in Minsk ; † 17th November 2019 ) was a Soviet - Belarusian mathematician and university lecturer .

Life

Tyschkewitsch came from the old count family Tyszkiewicz . At the beginning of the German-Soviet war , Tyschkewitsch came to see his aunt in Vilejka , while his mother lived and worked in Izhevsk as a result of the evacuations . Tyschkewitsch attended secondary school in Vilejka with graduation in 1947. She then passed the entrance exams and studied at the physical and mathematical faculty of the Belarusian State University (BGU) with graduation in 1952. She then completed the three-year aspirant , after which she taught at the faculty.

In 1959 Tyschkewitsch successfully defended her dissertation on nilpotent linear groups at the BGU for her doctorate as a candidate in physical-mathematical sciences.

Tyschkewitsch's main research interests at the BGU were the sections and degrees of graphs and the reconstruction of graphs from subgraphs. She was involved in the development of the split graphs and made significant contributions to the edge graphs of the hypergraphs . In 1984 she successfully defended her doctoral thesis on algebraic methods of graph theory for her doctorate in physical-mathematical sciences at the Kiev Gluschkow Institute for Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic . Her doctoral dissertation was the first on graph theory in the USSR . In 1986 she was appointed professor at the BGU.

In October 2009, with the support of the Central European Initiative, the international conference Discrete Mathematics, Algebra, and their Applications took place in Minsk on Tyschkewitsch's 80th birthday .
