Sprinkler

The Regner white wine variety is a new breed from a cross between Muscat d'Eisenstadt and Müller-Thurgau . The crossing took place in 1929 by Georg Scheu in the State Institute for Vine Breeding Alzey in Rheinhessen . The original information from Georg Scheu, that it was a cross of yellow silk grape (Luglienca bianca) x Gamay early , has in the meantime been refuted by DNA analysis. The variety was dedicated to Georg Scheu's long-time employee, Miss Anne-Marie Regner. The plant variety protection and registration in the list of varieties carried 1978 .

In 2007, approx. 51 hectares were planted with the Regner variety in Germany , after 124 hectares were surveyed in 2001. The vineyards are mainly in the Palatinate and in Rheinhessen . It is also approved in Brazil , Canada , Austria and Hungary .

The rather low-acid, flowery and yellow-green wine has a light muscat tone; it is reminiscent of Müller-Thurgau . Because of the low acid values (→ acidity (wine) ), the white wines are sometimes a bit flat and therefore give more appealing results in the cool wine-growing climate.
