Pure abundance
Reiner Paul Fülle (born December 26, 1938 in Zwickau ; † October 9, 2010 ) was a German agent , initially at the Enlightenment Office of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) of the GDR and later at the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV).
Life
Fülle came from Zwickau and was recruited as an unofficial employee of the GDR State Security during a visit to relatives in Thuringia . As an accountant at the Karlsruhe Research Center , he later revealed under the code name IM Klaus (Reg.No. XV / 205/66) mainly details from the reprocessing technology of the Federal Republic of Germany.
On January 19, 1979, Fülle was arrested in connection with statements made by Werner Stiller , an MfS defector . When he was transferred from Karlsruhe to Bonn for questioning, Fülle was able to escape the following day, among other things because the BKA officer accompanying him slipped on black ice. In addition, contrary to service regulations, Fülle was only accompanied by one officer and not tied up. After hiding in the Kunsthalle Karlsruhe for a day , he escaped to Baden-Baden and was brought into the GDR in a wooden box via the Herleshausen border crossing at Zeppelinstrasse 19 by helpers from the Soviet military liaison mission . This escape earned him the nickname Glatteisspion in the German media .
Because he subsequently delivered material about the GDR security apparatus to Cologne for a long time, the BfV organized "Operation Veronika" and made it possible for him to return to the Federal Republic of Germany. On September 5, 1981, Fülle returned with false papers in the name of “Hermann Sander” and a flight ticket from Budapest to Athens to Frankfurt / Main. The Stuttgart Higher Regional Court later sentenced him to six years ' imprisonment for treason .
