Reinhard Löffler (born May 15, 1954 in Offenburg ) is a Baden-Württemberg politician ( CDU ).

education and profession

After attending the Karl Tschamber elementary school in Weil am Rhein and graduating from the Kant grammar school in Weil am Rhein , Reinhard Löffler did community service at the Lörrach regional hospital. He then studied law and economics in Basel , Freiburg and Montreal , where he earned the academic title of a Master of Laws and gained his first professional experience. He passed the first state examination in 1979 and the assessor examination in 1984. In 1985 he received his doctorate in law. He is a lawyer , lecturer at the Media University and director of IBM Germany GmbH for the public administration division.

Political activity

Löffler from 1999 to 2011 Member of the Municipal Council of the city of Stuttgart . In the 14th and 15th electoral period from April 11, 2006, he was a directly elected member of constituency 3 (Stuttgart III), a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg and economic policy spokesman for the CDU state parliamentary group. On March 13, 2016, he lost his direct mandate against Franz Untersteller (GREEN) and left the state parliament. On July 2, 2016, he was also defeated in a battle vote against Daniel Hackenjos for the chairmanship of the SME Association of Baden-Württemberg and had to resign after two years.

Reinhard Löffler is Roman Catholic . He is married and has three children.

Public arguments and criticism

In October 2010, Löffler attacked Cem Özdemir, chairman of the Greens . Özdemir had accused the Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg, Stefan Mappus , of “wanting to see blood” in the course of the dispute over the controversial major project Stuttgart 21 , but apologized for it a short time later. Löffler then added up and accused Özdemir of having spoken on his Facebook page "in the pose of a pocket-sized Django". He played well on its Turkish origin to: "Could it be that still thought of blood feud from the Anatolian past is alive in him?" . The Green MP Werner Wölfle evaluated Löffler's statements as xenophobic.
