Reinhold Max Eichler was born in Hubertusburg, Mutzschen in Saxony in 1872 as the son of a farmer. He first studied at the Dresden Art Academy from 1889 to 1893. From 1903 he worked exclusively for the youth . The artists' association Die Scholle included Eichler, Gustav Bechler , Hansl Bock , Ludwig Bock , Edward Cucuel , Erich Erler (-Samaden), Fritz Erler , Max Feldbauer , Walter Georgi , Adolf Höfer , Adolf Münzer , Walter Püttner , Leo Putz , and Franz Wilhelm Voigt , Robert Weise .

Eichler chose mainly female nudes and the landscape as motifs (especially the Bavarian region of Holzhausen am Ammersee ), but also heroic scenes. He later received the title of professor.

The altar fresco was examined and restored by an art historian and two restorers in the years up to 2008, so that today it has been torn from oblivion and shines again in its original colors and expressiveness. For today's Christians it proclaims God's love for us humans.
