Reinhold Weber

Reinhold Weber (born January 31, 1969 in Aalen ) is a German historian . He is department head at the State Center for Political Education in Baden-Württemberg , where he heads the Haus auf der Alb department in Bad Urach. He is also an honorary professor at the Department of Contemporary History at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen.

Life

After Weber had attended the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Aalen until 1988 and had done his community service from 1988 to 1990, he began his studies at the University of Tübingen . There he received his Magister Artium in 1998 in the field of modern history with a focus on contemporary history , medieval history and modern English literature. He worked on a source edition of the memoirs of the politician Kuno Graf von Westarp as part of a research project by the Commission for the History of Parliamentarism and Political Parties . In 2003 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD at the University of Tübingen.

From 2003 to 2018 he was responsible for the scientific book series Writings on Political Studies in Baden-Württemberg and for the didactic journal Politics & Classes at the State Center for Political Education in Baden-Württemberg .

Weber is a full member of the Commission for Historical Regional Studies in Baden-Württemberg , the Advisory Board of the Württemberg History and Antiquity Association , the Board of Trustees of the Academy of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart , the Scientific Advisory Board of MARCHIVUM Mannheim and the Advisory Board of the Salmen Memorial in Offenburg. In addition, he is a member of the Council for Migration (RfM), a nationwide association of scientists who provide critical support to politics in questions of migration and integration .

Weber's work and research focuses on German history, especially in the 20th century, the history of Baden-Württemberg and its predecessor countries, as well as the history of parties and elections, political culture , the history of migration and the history of terrorism and the 1970s and 1980s in the Federal Republic and in Baden-Württemberg.

Weber was the author of the official anniversary publication of the state of Baden-Württemberg for the 50th anniversary of the state in 2002. In 2012, together with Peter Steinbach and Hans-Georg Wehling, he was the editor of the jubilee publication for the 60th birthday of the state of Baden-Württemberg. Weber is also the author of numerous monographs and essays as well as the editor of books and book series. In November 2013 he was appointed honorary professor by the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen.

Weber was a member of the FDP and is now non-party.
