Act

As a pediatrician

His research work, including the Zurich longitudinal studies on child development that he led for several decades , received great international attention.

As a specialist book author

In 1993 Largo published his first book, Baby Years , which, like the subsequent volume Kinderjahre (1999), developed into a " long seller " and has been translated into many languages. Largo warns in particular of the fanaticism within the family and the school and states: "The grass does not grow faster if you pull on it." He wants to awaken understanding for the biological conditions and for the diversity of childish behavior in parents and educators. Four more books have followed since then. Largo advocates the abolition of school grades: "They are pedagogically useless."
