The Schmiehbach , also called Kelkheimer Graben on the Unterlauf , is an approximately 3.6 km long left or northeastern tributary of the Liederbach in the Hessian Main-Taunus-Kreis . The origin of the name part "Schmieh" is still unclear.
course
The Schmiehbach rises in the Voraunus east of Kelkheim - Hornau (near the B 519 ) and west of a small forest ( Hornauer Dicknet ). It initially flows in a southerly direction through an area with moist tall herbaceous meadows , allotments and orchards east of Kelkheim. The arable soil (mainly parabroun earth ) on the mountain slopes of the Schmiehbach valley located here is at great risk of erosion . In the area of the Kelkheim- Münster district , the Schmiehbach turns to the west. It flows in a large arc through the Schmieh fruit-growing area and the Niederhofheimer Heide , before finally flowing underground into the Liederbach in the area of the Liederbach - Niederhofheim district .
