René Harather (born April 8, 1969 in Neunkirchen ) is an Austrian author , historian , journalist , copywriter, musician , music teacher , cultural worker and regional politician.

Life

René Harather was born on April 8, 1969 in Neunkirchen . After leaving school at Neusprachliches school in Neunkirchen 1987, he began the same year at the University of Vienna a teaching degree in History and Mathematics (later German) and parallel to it in 1988 to study at the Josef Matthias Hauer Conservatory in Wiener Neustadt , a Instrumental and vocal pedagogy studies (major in classical guitar). In 2009 Harather completed a history degree at the University of Vienna with a Bachelor of Arts degree .

Harather has been married since 2015 and lives in Wimpassing in the Black Valley .

René Harather has been a music teacher since 1988 and at the Wimpassing music school since 1989. As a musician he was and is a member of music formations and self-founded bands. Since the mid-1980s he worked a. a. with the artists Rocco Granata , Wencke Myhre , Louise Martini , Bill Ramsey , Eric Marienthal , Kurt Brunthaler, Otto M. Schwarz or Viktor Gernot .

Since 1994 Harather has worked as a journalist and copywriter for various clients.

As a historian and author, René Harather has published around two dozen works since 1998, mainly books, some of which have also been translated into English or French. In addition to regional location and company biographies, the author specializes in historical treatises on traditional Austrian companies operating in Europe or around the world ( Semperit AG , Schoeller Bleckmann Edelstahlrohr, Huyck.Wangner, Neudoerfler Office Systems).

Culture & Politics

Harather has been a member of the local council in his home municipality of Wimpassing since 1995, and has been the managing councilor for culture since 2000. He has also been chairman of the Wimpassing cultural association (founded in 1964) since 2000 and is responsible for the compilation of annual programs, including artists such as Johnny Logan , Konstantin Wecker , Ack van Rooyen , Josef Hader and Viktor Gernot for special Culture projects were engaged.

For his first book, The History of the Region and the City of Ternitz , Harather was awarded the Culture Prize of the State of Lower Austria in the humanities category (recognition prize) in 2001. The laudation was written by the Austrian historian Ernst Bruckmüller .
