Career
Tretschok joined the first team of Hallescher FC Chemie in 1986 , where he and Dariusz Wosz became a crowd favorite and promoted to the GDR league in his first season . In the 1990/91 season Tretschok qualified with Halleschen FC for the 2nd Bundesliga and the 1991/92 UEFA Cup .
In 1992 he came to Borussia Dortmund and played there until 1997. Only in the 1993/94 season he was loaned to Tennis Borussia Berlin . He had his most successful time with Borussia Dortmund. By winning the Champions League in 1997, he said goodbye to 1. FC Köln , which he left after relegation in 1998. At Hertha BSC , he became a regular straight away and was a long-time top performer in Berlin. From 2003 he played in the second team of the club.
In January 2005 he moved to SV Babelsberg 03 . There he ended his career in the summer of 2007 and was active as an assistant coach until October 2007. In the 2008/09 season René Tretschok was active as the sporting director of the Oberliga newly promoted FC Grün-Weiß Wolfen. In October 2008 he made his comeback as a player in the Green-Whites league game against SSV Markranstädt .
Since July 1, 2009, Tretschok was the coach of the U-19 team at Hertha BSC.
On February 14, 2012 Tretschok took over the professional team from Hertha BSC on an interim basis and headed his first Bundesliga game as a coach against Borussia Dortmund (0: 1). Two days earlier, Michael Skibbe had been fired after only 50 days in office. After Otto Rehhagel was appointed as the new head coach, he became his assistant coach.
Then Tretschok worked again as a trainer for Hertha's U-19 team. At the end of November 2012, he resigned from his duties for personal reasons. He is now deputy director of the Tretschok football school in Wolfen.
