Renata Friederich

Renata Friederich (born August 8, 1958 in Aarau ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( vocals , also ukulele , harmonium , loops , composition ).

Live and act

Friederich initially worked as a teacher at various secondary schools. In addition, she worked in the band Milde Sorte from 1989 to 2002 . Between 1990 and 1996 she studied at the Basel Jazz School, where she received vocal training from Deviana Daudsjah, Sandy Patton , Carmen Lundy , Norbert Gottschalk , Darmon Meader , Bob Stoloff and Luciana Souza . Since 1994 she has performed in jazz with her own projects and has worked with musicians such as Lance Abderhalden, Tamami Aburakawa, Roberto Bossard , Michael Bucher , DJ Douh Roluff, Adelina Filli, Elmar Frey , Christoph Grab , Marco Käppeli , Lester Menezes and Felix Utzinger.

In 2002 her debut album Moon Moods was released with Ueli Angstmann, Esther Bächlin , Christoph Sprenger and Tony Renold on Altrisuoni . The album Lonely Woman followed in 2006 with the trio close-up (with Markus Portenier and Rätus Flisch) . More CDs followed. She is currently working on the projects City Lights , aaRENAar and Don't Smoke In Bed .

Frederichs taught between 1996 and 2017 at the Zurich University of the Arts (solo singing, improvisation, vocal workshops, choir); Since 2007 she has been teaching solo singing and improvisation at the Neue Kantonsschule Aarau and giving vocal workshops.

Awards

Frederichs received an award as Pro Argovia Artist in 2003/2004 . In 2012 she was awarded a studio stay at the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris , which was awarded by the Aargau Board of Trustees. Together with her husband Rolf Lenzin, she was cultural village clerk in the community of Suhr AG in 2016/17 .
