Reutern (Riutarn, Rautar, Reittorn) in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau is a district and a district of the city of Bad Griesbach im Rottal . Reutern formed an independent municipality until 1972.

Reutern is located in the Isar-Inn hill country about three kilometers northeast of Bad Griesbach on state road 2118.

history

The village was mentioned for the first time in 1076. In that year, Bishop Altmann von Passau entrusted Count Heinrich II. Von Vornbach with the bailiwick of the properties of the newly founded Canons' Monastery of St. Nikola in Bavaria and gave him twelve vineyards in Reutern for the obligations that he assumed with this office, who were near his castle Griesbach, as fiefs.

Towards the end of the 12th century, the Passau bishopric is found in Reutern. The monks of Vornbach also owned property in the village itself and in the area around Reutern.

Parish Church of St. Valentine

The parish church of St. Valentin was built on Romanesque and Gothic foundations in the 16th and 17th centuries. Century built. It has a Romanesque saddle tower. A late Gothic wooden figure of St. Valentin dates from around 1500.
