history

Reuth was first mentioned in 1434 when Heinrich von Redwitz zu Tüschnitz sold four Sölden to Klaus von Redwitz zu Theisenort . According to a list from the Carmelite Monastery of Bamberg , the settlement, in which seven families lived, belonged to the parish of Weißenbrunn in 1520. In 1532 Wolf Christoph von Redwitz zu Theisenort owned eleven Seldengüter in the village.

In 1600 Reuth was inherited by von Redwitz zu Küps . Later, the manor Küps-Theisenort of the lords of Redwitz zu Küps and the manor Schmölz- Theisenort of the lords of Redwitz zu Schmölz jointly exercised village and community rule. In 1734, the Lords of Redwitz zu Schmölz owned six Fronsölden, a Gütlein and two houses.

As a result of the Reichsdeputation Hauptschluss , Reuth became the property of the Electorate of Bavaria in the early 19th century . In 1818 the rural community of Reuth was established. It consisted of two places, the village of Reuth and the wasteland of Schaufel.

In 1862 the rural community of Reuth was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Kronach . In 1871 the main town had 130 inhabitants. The Protestant parish was 2.0 kilometers away in Weißenbrunn, the Protestant denominational school in Hummendorf, 1.5 kilometers away. In 1900 the 93 hectare rural community had 115 inhabitants, 104 of whom were Protestant and 11 were Catholic. Reuth had 111 residents and 18 residential buildings. In 1916, Reuth was connected to the railway network with the Neuses – Weißenbrunn line.

In 1925 there were 129 people living in 23 residential buildings in the village. The Catholic residents belonged to the parish in Kirchlein, 6.5 kilometers away . In 1950 Reuth had 239 residents and 27 residential buildings. The majority of the residents belonged to the Protestant parish in Weißenbrunn, where the school was also located. The Catholic residents were parish in Theisenort. In 1970 the village had 194 inhabitants. In 1987, 211 residents lived in 82 residential buildings with 56 apartments.

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Reuth was incorporated into Weißenbrunn on April 1, 1971. In 1995 the railway line was shut down.
