Review 2014 - Foreign Policy Thinking ahead
Review 2014 - Foreign Policy Thinking Ahead is a project of the German Foreign Office .
It consists of the website review2014.de with expert contributions on the question “What, if anything, is wrong with German foreign policy? What should be changed? ”And a series of events with public discussions on this topic. The opening event of the conference on May 20, 2014, “What does the world expect from Germany?” Was broadcast live by Deutsche Welle TV .
Planning chief Thomas Bagger has announced that Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will present the results of the review process in February 2015.
background
When he took office in December 2013, Foreign Minister Steinmeier had formulated the goal for “Review 2014 - Foreign Policy Thinking Ahead”: A “self-understanding on the prospects of German foreign policy”, through a “dialogue between the Foreign Office and the most important foreign and security policy stakeholders, with the consent of the Civil society ”.
"Crisis - Order - Europe": This is the title of the final report of the twelve-month project "Review 2014 - Foreign Policy Thinking Ahead". Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier presented it to the German Bundestag and the public on February 25, 2015. The final report highlights the experiences during the three phases of the "review" process: the discussion with domestic and foreign experts, the public debate in Germany with over 60 public talks, panel discussions, conferences, workshops and simulations as well as the discussion with female employees and employees of the Federal Foreign Office.
The terms "Crisis - Order - Europe" describe the challenges and areas of tension in German foreign policy: crisis prevention, crisis management and post-crisis care, creative collaboration in elements of a new global order and an even more consistent European embedding of German foreign policy.
The report confirms the fundamental constants of German foreign policy. At the same time he formulates the claim to act “earlier, more decisively and more substantially”. The implementation should take place within 18 months.
