Rheinbach is a village in the mountainous city ​​of Wuppertal .

Location and description

Rheinbach is located south of the living quarters Cronenberg-Mitte in the district Cronenberg at an altitude of 142  m above sea level. NHN in the Morsbachtal on the city limits to Remscheid formed by the river . Neighboring towns are Bruscheid , Breitenbruch and Aue (near Remscheid). The place consists of several half-timbered houses .

The eponymous Rheinbach flows into the Morsbach near the place. State road  216, which here bears the name Morsbachtalstraße , runs in the valley .

In addition to other hiking trails , the Bergische Weg ( SGV main hiking route X29), a connecting route between the Wuppertal Friends of Nature Houses , the Morsbach Adventure Trail set up as part of the Regionale 2006 and the Wuppertaler Rundweg lead through the village.

history

The place was only created in the 19th century. A Sunday school was housed in one of the houses .

The Ronsdorf-Müngstener Railway ran through the Morsbachtal parallel to the Morsbachtalstraße and was primarily used to transport raw materials and finished goods from the companies. The section from Clarenbach via Aue to Müngsten was opened on November 16, 1891. On November 26, 1954, the section from Morsbach to Gründerhammer was closed . In Rheinbach there was a train station in the Wuppertal city area, the goods building of which is still preserved today. This station was named after the neighboring and larger Remscheid Aue. Today, only a collective taxi operates in public transport .
