The FFH area NSG Rheinvorland near Perrich (identification DE-4305-303) is around 51 hectares and is located in the Wesel district of Ginderich , Perrich, on the Lower Rhine on the left bank of the Rhine . As an FFH area, it forms part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas . The part of the name "NSG" refers to the previously independent nature reserve designation of this area. The former NSG Rheinvorland near Perrich merged in 2009 in the larger NSG Rheinaue between Büderich and Perrich , so that the FFH area has since been located within this nature reserve. The area is also located in the significantly larger EU bird protection area DE-4203-401 Unterer Niederrhein and in the Ramsar area Unterer Niederrhein .
Flora and fauna
The foreland of the Rhine near Perrich forms a habitat of softwood meadows and bank vegetation on a still water body of around 35 hectares , which was created through excavation and is connected to the Rhine depending on the water level. In the west of the foothills of the Rhine there are smaller poplar and willow stands with a high proportion of dead wood . The area is of particular value not only as a winter resting area for geese and ducks, but also as a breeding area for a large number of other bird species. The area's surroundings are characterized by grassland that is used as pastureland .
The permanent preservation and development of the softwood meadows is, in addition to preserving the water as a resting place for migratory birds, a main development goal in the foreland of the Rhine near Perrich.
Species of community interest according to the fauna, flora, habitat and bird protection directives are found in the area in particular
- Common snipe , wood sandpiper , dark water sandpiper , curlew , greenshank , ruff , redshank , black godwit and wood sandpiper
- White-fronted geese , goosander , teal , teal , shoveler , bean geese , pintail , pochard and pygmy merganser
- Little ringed plover and lapwing
- Common terns
- Meadow pipit
- Little Grebe

To the southwest, the FFH area is bounded by the Rhine dike between Büderich and Perrich, on which a cycling and hiking trail runs. From there, views of the area are possible.
