Rhonda Thorne (* 6. February 1958 in Toowoomba as Rhonda Shapland ) is a former Australian squash player .
Career
Rhonda Thorne won the world championship in 1981 after beating Vicki Cardwell . She defeated Cardwell 8:10, 9: 4, 9: 5, 7: 9 and 9: 7. Two years later in Perth she reached the final again as defending champion , this time defeating Cardwell 1: 9, 3: 9 and 4: 9. Between 1977 and 1984 she was part of the squad of the Australian national team , which led her to the world championship title as captain in 1981 and 1983 . She ended her career in 1985.
Thorne, who is a member of the Squash Australia Hall of Fame , is married to Ross Thorne , who was also a squash player.
