The Rißbach is a 9.8 km long creek with its longer left upper course Hollenbach in northern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the Jagst from the right and north in the village of Ailringen in the municipality of Mulfingen in the Hohenlohe district . Its right upper course is the Meisenbach . Both upper reaches border on other municipalities in the neighboring Main-Tauber district , while the Rissbach only runs in the area of its estuary municipality .

geography

Left upper course Hollenbach

The 6.1 km long Hollenbach arises about half a kilometer south of the junction of the L 1020 to Mulfingen - Hollenbach from Kaiserstraße at the edge of the forest of Leigen at about 422  m above sea level. NHN . For the first three hundred meters of its initially north-westerly run, the municipal boundary between Niederstetten on the right and Mulfingen on the left follows it . Then the stream turns around a northern tip of the forest to the southwest, takes its right source branch in a damp ground and then flows into the Upper Hollenbacher See , which covers an area of 2.3 hectares and on the left bank of which there is a forest camp. The Lower Hollenbacher See , which follows almost immediately in the course, is slightly larger at 3.7 hectares. Under the dam, the stream lies at about 397  m above sea level. NHN , it turns west here and separates itself from the Mönchswald , close to the edge of which it has always run until now.

It first crosses below at about 390  m above sea level. NHN the L 1020 and then mostly passes through the village of Hollenbach . At the western edge of the village, southeast of the cemetery and west of the sewage treatment plant, the Hollenbach comes back into daylight and digs a steep valley compared to its previously only quite flat hollow, which is forested from the start. At 370.7  m above sea level NHN he takes up the 0.9 km long brook from the Rossklinge , which only carries water continuously in its own lower third of the blade . From here the Hollenbach begins to meander through its narrow valley and to run between Schenkenwald left and Wasenberg right to the west-northwest. In front of its also wooded spur he then runs to 318.5  m above sea level. NHN a good half a kilometer southwest of the Albertshöfe on the plateau at an acute angle with the 3.4 km long Meisenbach .

Right upper course Meisenbach

The 3.4 km long Meisenbach arises at about 412  m above sea level. NHN in the open corridor, about 1 km south of Bad Mergentheim - Rot and 2 km northeast of the village of Hollenbach. It initially runs southwest and takes up its right source branch in the Red Lake , which approaches the western edge of Hagenholz and Seeholz ; these are the only somewhat larger forest areas on the plateau in its catchment area. Then it runs more and more westwards, on the last third of its run in its deep blade the slopes are mostly wooded. Shortly before the estuary, it takes in a small stream of blades from the right towards the Albertshöfe.

Lower Rissbach

The ridge of the Rissbach valley already has an open floodplain at the confluence of the source streams, through which it meanders, accompanied by a gallery of trees, it slowly turns in a south-westerly direction. At the foot of the former Gruningen Castle, up in the Waldgewann Burg, it runs through a 0.3-hectare retention basin. The spur supporting the castle on the right side of the valley is limited on its north side by the castle blade , through which a 1.5 km long Waldklingenbach soon afterwards at about 290  m above sea level. NHN opens from the right. The next and most important inlet of the Rißbach is the 3.7 km long Steinbach , which is about 275  m above sea level. NHN flows from the north at the Ailringer Schützenhaus in front of its Eichelberg estuary ; it arises far to the north east of Bad Mergentheim-Rengershausen in the hill forest of Stöckerbild on the plateau.

Half a kilometer further, a much shorter, only 0.6 km long side stream from the ant blade runs to it. Then the Rißbach flows its last kilometer southwards through a now quite wide and soon also free on the slopes valley towards the village of Ailringen , after which it runs next to the Schafgasse at 247.8  m above sea level. NHN from the right and north - after a run of 3.1 km in length from the confluence of the upper courses or 9.7 km on the Hollenbach-Rissbach main line - flows into the Jagst running westwards here .

Catchment area

The Rissbach has a catchment area of 19.1 km². The Hollenbach-Oberlauf 6.3 km², the Meisenbach-Oberlauf 3.5 km² and the Steinbach 4.2 km² contribute to it. The main line with the upper reaches of Hollenbach, always close to the southern border, draws a Z-loop. It stretches strongly to the north both near Hollenbach and especially on both sides of the Steinbach run.

In the northwest, on the other side, there is first the catchment area of the Dörzbacher Jagst tributary to Goldbach , then, shorter, of the Erlenbach , which drains far to the lower Jagst. From there the watershed runs in a south arch to the east, here on the other side of the Wachbach competes with the Tauber , which is then replaced in the far east by the Aschbach with the same drainage direction. In the south-east the Ette runs back to the Jagst, in the south and south-west mostly minor tributaries compete with the latter (including Ailringer Reitersklinge , Dörzbacher Osenklinge and Kiesgraben ).

Apart from Mulfingen , to which the majority belongs, smaller shares of the catchment area also have Bad Mergentheim in the north, Niederstetten in the east and Dörzbach in the west.
