Richard Jepsen Dethlefsen (born August 24, 1864 in Greenland near Ekensund, North Schleswig , today Sønderborg Kommune ; † March 24, 1944 in Heinrichswalde , East Prussia ) was a German architect , Prussian building officer and monument curator .

Life

As a student of Conrad Wilhelm Hase , Dethlefsen studied architecture from 1885 to 1890 at the Technical University of Hanover . He started a civil service career and worked as a government building supervisor ( trainee lawyer ) (1889) and as a government builder ( assessor ) (1893) in the Prussian building administration. In 1894/1895 he worked for the district government in Schleswig . In 1901 he was entrusted with the restoration of the Königsberg Cathedral as chief building officer and master builder . From 1902 to 1936 he was Provincial Conservator of the Province of East Prussia .

He devoted himself to little-noticed farm and town houses and larger noble houses. In 1912 he suggested the Königsberg open-air museum. He also managed it after it was moved to the Hexenberg north of Hohenstein in 1938.
