Heinrich Eduard Richard Güntsche (born February 16, 1861 in Rudolstadt , † May 15, 1913 in Berlin ) was a German mathematician .

Güntsche was the oldest son of a tannery owner. After attending secondary school in his native town, Güntsche attended secondary school in Weimar . After passing his matriculation examination , he studied mathematics and natural sciences from 1878, first at the Berlin University , then until 1882 at the University of Leipzig . In 1884/1885 he completed his educational trial year in Brandenburg an der Havel and then worked as an assistant teacher in Berlin and Frankfurt (Oder) . In 1888 he became a full teacher at the third Berlin secondary school. At that time he was occupied with the theory of differential equations , especially first-order differential equations. In 1891 he wrote on this subject his dissertation , which he at the 1891 University of Jena doctorate was.

1902 changed Güntsche as assistant of Emil lamp at the Institute of Technology (Berlin) Charlottenburg . Among other things, he proved that in a rational tetrahedron all edge and surface angles of the four corners have rational goniometric functions .

Güntsche worked on the yearbook on the progress of mathematics for over 20 years . The Berlin Mathematical Society , he belonged since its inception in October 1901 on, in October 1910 he was elected chairman of the company.

Richard Güntsche's grave is in the Wilmersdorf cemetery . The tomb is adorned by a high relief in a half profile , which the sculptor Richard Grüttner made in 1914.
