Richard Scheufler (born November 1, 1964 in Ústí nad Labem ) is a Czech multi-instrumentalist , solo singer, composer , music arranger, teacher and producer .

Life

He started playing the harmonica at the age of three , gradually adding the piano and percussion instruments . He developed his musical ambitions in the children's orchestra under the direction of his uncle Jirka. After the orchestra was dissolved , the thirteen-year-old Scheufler switched to the bass guitar , which he still plays today.

Scheufler received his first musical training through self-study. Later he studied music under the direction of Vladimír Hora, first privately from 1987 to 1989 and from 1998 to 1999 at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague. In addition to taking bass guitar lessons, he also took singing lessons here.

After playing in regional bands, Scheufler got a professional engagement in the band Natural for about four years in 1986 . He later played in the band Buran Prášil, and then in 1990 in Dalibor Janda's band . After meeting the musician and composer Milan Steigerwald, he became a member of the band King Size for twelve years. Although the band ceased their artistic activity, it continues. Scheufler and his son Richard of the same name play as guest artists.

At the same time he appeared as a guest on the recordings of Karel Gott , Lucie Bílá and Lenka Filipová. He contributed to the creation of the record Nechci zůstat sám / I don´t want to be alone by the band Damiens as a co-producer with Láďa Křížek. He received the award The Golden Plate (Zlatá deska) for his contribution to this pop album. He was also involved in jazz projects and worked with saxophonist Ivan Myslikovjan’s band Blue Birds and saxophonist Andrea Kolmanová (together with his son) on the production of their CD Andrea. He currently belongs to the band Pražský Výběr II (often abbreviated as PV II), whose frontman is the composer, singer and political activist Michael Kocáb. During 2007 he went on concert tour with the band PV II at festivals and was involved in all activities related to the band. In the same year the album of PV II Vymlácený rockový palice / Smashed Rock Heads was released and in June 2008 the concert PRAŽSKÝ VÝBĚR II LIVE, which took place on May 3, 2007 in Teplice , was released on DVD .

In late 2002 he went to Hastings , England, and worked in Claire Hamill's studio, giving performances with Tom Palmer, Steve Winchster, Donna Terenzi, Mama Josie and Papa George . He also had solo appearances and established a closer collaboration with Nana Tsiboe - the former percussionist of Robbie Williams - as part of his solo project Bushfaya. Among other things, he shot video clips in Africa and presented the musical instruments of the George Dennis brand at the Frankfurt Music Fair .

Since the beginning of 2011 he has been playing bass in the Czech band Krucipüsk.

Solo projects

Richard Scheufler's debut solo album entitled V rukou Tvých / In your hands was released in 2001 in Czech and English.

The second solo album Between us was in the years 2004 to 2008, Richard was the CD under the label Scheufler's Records in 2008 out. The album contains a total of 16 tracks - instrumental compositions and songs sung in English, which were written with the help of son Richard, Ted Whang, Peter Boška, ​​Jiří Neuville, Štěpán Škoch, Andrea Kolmanová, Markéta Rohanová.

Educational activity

Richard Scheufler was also known in the music community for his educational work. In 1994 he published an audio course Slap & Funky. In 2000 the video course of the same name was published as the first course of its kind in the Czech Republic. From 1997 to 2002 he worked as a lecturer in the context of rock courses that are regularly organized in the summer in Dobrá Voda near Prachatice . The participants in the rock courses initiated the creation of a musical material that appeared in 2001 on the plate edited by the editors, entitled Jednou v roce / Once a Year . He led seminars at music fairs, in Prague every year since 1991 (Huvel, Muzika 2003), in Bratislava and abroad at the Frankfurt Music Fair.

Scheufler Project

The musical collaboration with his son Richard (born on September 28, 1988 in Partizánske , Slovakia ), with whom he performs under the name Scheufler Project, has a special status . At the side of his father, he worked in the band King Size, whose permanent guest artist they are to this day. At the age of twelve he took part in the recording of the pop album Nechci zůstat sám / I don´t want to be alone by the band Damiens, which his father Richard co-produced; he took part in the concert tour of the singer Lenka Filipová and also contributed to the father's second solo album Between us (Scheufler's Records, 2008). Since 2004, the two Scheuflers have been involved in the rock opera Antigona as permanent guest artists.

Musical equipment

In October 2004 Richard accepted an offer of cooperation from the company MusicData, it was about the presentation of the QUANTUM products at his individual appearances, at the seminars and music fairs. He also works with ALEXIM on the presentation of analog effects and strings from the Swedish company EBS.

In 2007 he started working with the company ROLAND and the Hungarian manufacturer of guitars FIBENARE, which has been developing a 6-string bass guitar Fibenare Standard RS MIDI for Scheufler since 2006. It is a bass guitar that uses both analog and digital input. Richard's musical equipment also includes the signed bass guitars from K&K, with whom he has been working since 1997, they are as follows:

and a Yamaha TRB 6P.

The studio equipment and the equipment for the seminars consists of a Yamaha QY 700 sequencer, HDD Korg D16, Korg Pandora PX5D and Audix Microphone. After the end of the collaboration with MusicData and Hughes & Kettner at the end of 2007, he procured the products of the AMPEG (Ampeg SVP-CL, Ampeg SVT PRO and Ampeg SVP-BSP) and Hafler (power amp) brands. For the analog effects Richard uses the complete range of EBS and a George Dennis Phaser for the digital effects he uses Roland V-Bass, Roland GR-20 and Roland GKP-4.
