Obituary

In addition to his work as head of the brick factories, he went on his first study trip in 1873 , which took him to the far north to Spitzbergen . 1875–1876 followed another, extensive study trip to the Indian Ocean and East Asia , where he studied the volcanoes on the then largely unknown islands of Réunion , Mauritius and Luzon . He donated 754 well-documented rock samples from this trip to the Natural History Museum Vienna , where they are stored in the petrographic collection. After the establishment of Czechoslovakia , on the basis of Act No. 215/1919 Sb on the confiscation of large estates, he lost all Bohemian real estate.
