Rietumu Banka-Riga was a Latvian cycling team based in Riga .
A Latvian- Swiss Continental team was founded in 2005 under the name Rietumu Bank-Riga-Ideal Bikes . In 2006 there were eleven young Latvian professionals, including a. Aleksejs Saramotins , Kalvin Eisaks . Other well-known names are the Russian Sergei Firsanow , the Belarusian Wassil Kiryjenka and the four Swiss Peter Jörg , Janusch Laule , Laurent Arn and Jean Nuttli . The team was founded by Latvian Igo Japinsh in collaboration with Swiss Reto Winter , who then switched to the Konica Minolta team in 2007 , where the then unknown Kenyan (only starting for Great Britain from 2009) Chris Froome was his professional at the same time Career started.
The main sponsor was the Latvian bank Rietumu. The team management consisted of Edvard Bowen and Linards Veide. The crew were equipped with Giant bikes .
After the team drove without a UCI license from 2009 to 2011, it has had a license as a Continental team again since 2012.
At the end of the 2017 season, the team announced that they did not want to acquire a license as a Continental Team for 2018, as the main sponsor Rietumu Banka would end its partnership with the team.
