Rimkai - is the highest part of Jonava in the Jonava district , in the Kaunas district (in Lithuania ), west of the city center, on the Kulva geomorphological reserve . The main streets in the microrajon are Petro Vaičiūno , Chemikų, Abraomo Kulviečio , Žemaitės and part of Vasario 16 osios streets.

Rimkai Raion used to be the eastern part of Rimkai Village in Kulva County .

In 1775 the place was known as "Berže alias Rymki" (Tarifa Podymn.). In 1784 the village was mentioned as "Rynki alias Borže". On the map from 1843 there was a place “Rimki” and in 1883 “Rymki” (RTž), 1900 “Rimkiai”, 1915 “Rymki” (WR). The place has been called Rimkai since 1933.

The microrajon was created in the Soviet era . At that time there was a need for living space for the several employees of the chemical company G / S Azotas . Many were Russian and came from Soviet Russia . This is how Chemiker-Str. ( Chemikų gatvė ).

In 1981 the 5th middle school (with 891 students and 46 teachers) was opened. In 1988 the 6th middle school was opened (with 727 students and 44 teachers). In 1997 the 6th Jonava Middle School got the name of Raimundas Samulevičius and the 5th Middle School got the name of Justinas Vareikis . In 2001, both middle schools were reorganized into Hauptschulen . The students from Rimkai are now finishing high school in two of the city's high schools.

In 2008 the St. Johannes Parish was founded and then the St. Johannes Chapel was established. A committee of Catholic residents and politicians from the Rajongemeinde was formed to build a new St. John's Church.

In 2009 the youth center Jonava was founded in Rimkai.

Rimkų electoral district No. 1 ( Rimkų rinkimų apylinkė No. 1 ) has 2,637 voters (2012).

Facilities

The local employment office is located in Rimkai as a Jonava subdivision of the Kaunas Territorial Employment Exchange . There are a total of three schools in the district, two of which were built as secondary schools in what was then Soviet Lithuania (they were later reorganized as secondary schools ). These include the Justinas-Vareikis - Progymnasium (1-10 classes) and the Raimundas-Samulevičius -Progymnasium and Rimkai- elementary school Jonava (1-4 classes).
