Rinas ( Albanian  also  Rinasi ) is a village in Albania in the municipality of Kruja , Qark Durrës . The place is located southwest of Fushë-Kruja directly at Tirana Airport , which was formerly officially known as Tirana-Rinas Airport . Rinas is therefore still a synonym for the airport in Albania.

Rinas lies in the plain northwest of Tirana . The runway is in the southeast and the airport terminal in the south . The Tirana River runs to the west, with Fushë-Preza behind it . Until 2015, Rinas belonged to the municipality of Nikël, which then became part of Bashkia Kruja through administrative reform .

Rinas was first mentioned in the 15th century. In 1956, the region's farmers were collectivized into agricultural cooperatives . At the same time, the new Tirana airport, which opened in 1958, was built in Rinas. In the Socialist People's Republic of Albania, with very little tourism and no freedom to travel, even the country's only airport recorded very little traffic - the infrastructure was correspondingly neglected into the new millennium. To this day, Rinas has retained an agricultural character. In the past, mainly grain was grown.

For a long time, Rinas and the airport were only accessible from the west from the SH 52 via a narrow lane. This was expanded in 1999 by the American military . In 2005, the expansion of the now privatized airport began. In this context, the bridge over the Ishëm on the feeder road was renewed and in March 2007 a direct connection to the south to the Tirana - Durrës motorway , the SH 60 , was built.

Around the airport, so far Albania's only civilian one, various service companies such as hotels, car rental companies and petrol stations have settled. A little south of the SH 60 are the Tirana Business Park and the campus of the Epoka University . The center of the village is a little north of the airport. Mosques were built there and a little further south .
