action

The brothers Hank and Ely Braxton live from appearances at the rodeos . Hank rents out bulls that are raised on the family farm. Ely rides the bull. After an injury, he breaks off bull riding , but resumes later.

A flashback shows Rose, the brothers' mother, chasing her husband Reid out of the house with a gun in hand. The childhood of the brothers is also shown.

After Hank and Ely go to the rodeos for two months, Ely meets another man at her friend Connie's house. Connie emphasizes that the man is only there on friendly terms, but Ely argues with her. He begins a relationship with the world horse riding champion Celia Jones, in which his brother is also interested. Hank doesn’t address it at first, but after a while there is an argument between the brothers.

Ely becomes successful and is offered a lucrative contract. He begins to doubt whether he should keep up the relationship with Celia. She asks him openly whether it makes sense for her to accompany him to the World Cup in Las Vegas if he should treat her like dirt . She asks if Hank would do without the wife for his brother. Ely says yes.

During this time, Connie and Hank meet on friendly terms. Connie says that a relationship would be possible in another world . In response, Hank emphasizes the words in another world .

In Las Vegas it turns out that Ely is supposed to ride one of his brother's bulls. The brothers are reconciled. Hank gives Ely her father Reid's address. When Ely visits him, he does not recognize him. He thinks he's a reporter and talks about his previous career as a rodeo athlete. Ely calls Connie and asks if she'll give him a second chance.

Ely gets the maximum number of points in a bull ride. When he tries to jump off the cop, there is an accident. His hand is stuck in the bridle , but Hank is able to free him. Ely remains only slightly injured, the seriously injured Hank dies.

Rose later wants to shoot the cop who killed her son, but Ely drives him onto the prairie and lets him go. A friend and co-worker says: "He would have done the same."
