Rittgarten
Rittgarten (Rittgarten and Rittgarten expansion) is a 6.71 km² large and 124-inhabitant part of the municipality of Nordwestuckermark in the Uckermark district in Brandenburg .
history
The development of Rittgarten is to be understood in connection with the history of the neighboring district of Wittstock . Wittstock was first mentioned in a document in 1298 as "Wizstocke". How many of the 12/13 The Uckermark town, founded in the 17th century, was also Wittstock in the 14th and 15th centuries. Century turned into desolation by robbery, war and agrarian crisis . The listed ruins of the "Desert Church", former village church from the 13th century, located between the parish of Rittgarten and Augustfelde, are a reminder of this time. In the 16th century the "desert field mark Wittstock" was divided. The Wittstock and Rittgarten manors were formed. The manor district of Rittgarten and the municipality of Rittgarten were united in 1928. The former manor ( aristocratic von Arnim family) with its extensive, listed landscape park from the 19th century is still the most striking building ensemble in the town. The “Residential House Group for Estate Employees”, Alte Schulstrasse 1, 3, 5, is also a listed building. One of the most famous historical personalities is the local politician Dietloff von Arnim (1879–1945), regularly called von Arnim-Rittgarten.
Rittgarten was incorporated into Schapow on April 1, 1979 . Schapow was an independent municipality until October 31, 2001 and has since been part of the municipality of Nordwestuckermark.
church
The village church, built in 1711, which stood in the still open cemetery, has been torn down. A belfry with a bell is reminiscent of the Rittgarten church. The Protestant part of the population of Rittgarten today belongs to the Evangelical Parish of Fürstenwerder.
traffic
Rittgarten is connected to the trunk road network via the federal highway 198 . A rail connection has not existed since 1978. The Prenzlau – Dedelow – Fürstenwerder railway of the Prenzlauer Kreisbahnen was opened on December 2, 1902 as a small railway. Operated by the Deutsche Reichsbahn after 1945 , it was shut down on September 30, 1978. A regular bus connection from the Uckermärkische Verkehrsgesellschaft (UVG) in the Berlin-Brandenburg transport association connects Rittgarten with the district town of Prenzlau .
Local supply
The HO store (consumption) in town was closed shortly after reunification. Farm shops and mobile sales outlets, some of which are organic, are now providing food within walking distance.
