Riviera Ligure di Ponente

Riviera Ligure di Ponente is a wine-growing region in the northern Italian provinces of Genoa , Imperia and Savona in the Liguria region . Since March 31, 1988, the wines have had the status of a "controlled designation of origin " Denominazione di origine controllata , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Growing area

Cultivation is permitted in the municipalities of Cosio d'Arroscia , Mendatica , Pornassio and Triora . In 2016, 14,272 hectoliters of DOC wine were produced from 237 hectares of vineyards .

Manufacturing

The following types of wine are produced:

  • Riviera Ligure di Ponente Granaccia (Alicante) (also called "Superiore" and Passito ): at least 90% Granaccia (Alicante) . A maximum of 10% other analogous grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Liguria region may be added.
  • Riviera Ligure di Ponente Moscato (also as Frizzante , Spätlese and Passito): 100% Moscato
  • Riviera Ligure di Ponente Pigato (also called “Superiore” and Passito): at least 95% Pigato . A maximum of 5% other analogue grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Liguria region may be added.
  • Riviera Ligure di Ponente Rossese (also called Passito): at least 90% Rossese . A maximum of 10% other analogous grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Liguria region may be added.
  • Riviera Ligure di Ponente Vermentino : (also called "Superiore" and Passito): 95% Vermentino . A maximum of 5% other analogue grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Liguria region may be added.
