Robert "Robbie" Findley (born August 4, 1985 in Phoenix, Arizona ) is an American football player who was last active for Rayo OKC .
Club career
Youth and college
Robbie Findley attended Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix, Arizona and played for the local school team. He was appointed to the First Team All-State selection in 2002 and 2003. Findley also set a new school record by scoring 27 goals in one season. He also played for the Sereno Golden Eagles. With the team he won the Arizona State Championship eight times, the Region IV Championships four times and reached the final of the Dallas Cup. During his college years at Oregon State University played for the Oregon State Beavers. He also played with the Boulder Rapids Reserve in the USL Premier Development League .
Professional career
Los Angeles Galaxy
Findley was selected by Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft. On April 8, 2007, he played his first major league soccer game . He was substituted on in the game against Houston Dynamo in the 60th minute for Cobi Jones . He scored his first goal for Galaxy four days later, after being substituted back on for Jones.
Real Salt Lake
On June 21, 2007 he was swapped along with midfielder Nathan Sturgis for Chris Klein from Real Salt Lake . In his first game for Salt Lake he scored two goals and the team was able to achieve their first victory in the 2007 MLS season . In 16 games for RSL he was the team's most successful goalscorer (six goals). In the subsequent MLS 2008 season, Findley scored six goals again and became the club's second-best goalscorer. Real Salt Lake moved into the play-offs for the first time this season, where they only failed in the semifinals against New York Red Bulls .
In January 2009 he completed a trial training at the Danish club Brøndby IF . Another commitment of the player did not materialize, although he scored two goals in the friendly matches for Brøndby. He returned to Real Salt Lake and played his best season as a professional. In Major League Soccer 2009 he scored 12 league goals. On April 2, 2009, he even scored a hat trick. His good performance was crowned by winning the MLS Cup against Los Angeles Galaxy.
At the end of Major League Soccer 2010 , his contract with Real Salt Lake ran out. He announced that he would like to play in Europe. At the MLS Expansion Draft 2010 he was drafted by the Portland Timbers .
Nottingham Forest
In mid-December 2010 he completed a trial session with the English first division club Wolverhampton Wanderers , but switched to Nottingham Forest in the Football League Championship on December 23 . Shortly after his engagement Findley injured himself in training and only came to his first two appearances shortly before the end of the season in the Football League Championship 2010/11 .
On September 21, 2012 Findley moved on loan to fourth division Gillingham FC .
On January 14, 2013, his contract with Nottingham Forest was terminated.
Return to the USA
After his release, Real Salt Lake took over the MLS rights from the Portland Timbers. Findley moved back to Major League Soccer and played the following two seasons for Salt Lake. In autumn 2014, his contract was not renewed and he participated in the MLS Re-Entry Draft 2014 in December. There he was selected by Toronto FC .
With the Canadians he spent a season. On February 24, 2014, he moved to Rayo OKC in the second-rate North American Soccer League .
National team
Findley is a US citizen and a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago . His parents come from the Caribbean country, but emigrated to the USA.
On October 9, 2007 he was appointed to the US national team. He made his first international match against Switzerland on October 17, 2009 . Findley came on in the 90th minute.
In August 2009 he was part of the US national team in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago. But he was not on the pitch in either game.
On May 26th, Bob Bradley was appointed to the final squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where he made his World Cup debut against England on June 12. Due to two yellow cards, he was suspended in the last group game against Algeria. In the round of 16 against Ghana, which the USA lost 2-1 after extra time, he was substituted at half time.
Private
Findley is a cousin of NBA - Point guards Mike Bibby and the NFL - wide receiver Shaun McDonald. He is also related to basketball player Eddie House , who is married to Findley's cousin.
