Robby Risch (born February 7, 1962 in Leipzig ) is a German politician ( non-party ). He is Lord Mayor of the city ​​of Weißenfels .

Life and work

Risch graduated in 1978 trained as Economic businessman . From 1983, he studied financial economics with a focus on finance and controlling and earned a college degree as a Master of Business Administration . From 1986 to 1989 Risch was head of the building investments and reconstructions hall . After German reunification , he was deputy managing director of Alfred Schuon GmbH in Weißenfels from 1990 to 1996 . He then worked for the Halle / Dessau Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 1997 to 2004 and was self-employed from 2005 until he was elected Lord Mayor of Weißenfels .

Risch is married and has one son.

Career

Risch had been a member of the Weißenfels city ​​council since 1999 , into which he entered via the list of the PDS (today: Die Linke ).

In 2004 he was one of the founding members of the municipal voters' group Citizens for Weissenfels . For this group he was elected to the city council in 2004 and to the district council of the Burgenland district in 2007. In the district council he has joined the SPD parliamentary group.

Risch has been Lord Mayor of Weißenfels since 2008. He prevailed in a runoff election against the incumbent Manfred Rauner ( CDU ) with 51.27 percent to 48.73 percent of the votes cast and a turnout of 31.44 percent.

In February 2010, Risch resigned from the “Citizens for Weissenfels” group of voters.

For the mayor election in 2015 , Risch prevailed in the runoff election against competitor Jörg Freiwald ( Die Linke ) with 64.9%, with a turnout of 23.5%.

Positions and Criticism

While the former community and now local mayors criticize the forced incorporation of their formerly independent communities to Weißenfels in 2010 because of the increased bureaucracy, the massive overindebtedness of the city of Weißenfels and the lord mayor's lack of communication skills, Risch welcomes the compulsory measure of the state government and regards it as a far-reaching success.
