Robert Brenner (mining engineer)

Robert Brenner (born February 7, 1862 in Kohlscheid , † October 30, 1935 in Wiesbaden ) was a German mining engineer and manager in the hard coal mining industry .

Life

Born as the son of the later mine director Ludger Brenner, Robert Brenner attended secondary school in Aachen and then graduated from the reorganized trade school in Bochum. After practical mining training in Westphalian mines, in 1882/1883 he did his military service as a one-year volunteer with the Guard Pioneer Battalion in Berlin. He then began working in the mining office of the Association for Hard Coal Construction in the Wurmrevier near Aachen. In 1884 he began studying mining at RWTH Aachen University and became a member of the Academic Association of Chemists, Miners and Smelters , which later became Corps Montania. During his studies he continued to work in the Markscheiderbüro and as an assistant climber . In 1887 he completed his studies and became assistant and district climber as well as operator at the association for hard coal mining in the worm area . At the end of 1888 he became a technical secretary and assistant to the management of the association company. In mid-1893 he accepted a position as technical director of the Arenberg'schen AG for mining and smelting operations in Essen. At the beginning of 1900 he was appointed general director and board member of Arenberg'schen AG. In 1920 he retired and acted as a technical advisory board member, from 1922 in the Arenberg department of Rheinische Stahlwerke AG .

He took part in the First World War as a captain and finally as a major in Landwehr II. He was the military chairman of the eviction commission in Dinslaken and later the organizer and head of the main surveillance center for prisoners of war in the mines of the Lower Rhine-Westphalian mining district.

Brenner was a member of the revision commission at the Association for Mining Interests in the Dortmund Upper Mining District in Essen, chairman of the supervisory board of Menzel AG, iron foundry, machine and apparatus construction in Elberfeld , member of the pit board of the Walter union, specialty shop for industry and mining in Essen, and member of the supervisory board of Schermbecker Thon and Falzziegelwerke AG , the Stettiner Chamotte-Fabrik AG, vorm. Didier , Triton-Werke AG, formerly. Ferdinand Müller in Hamburg, the Westdeutsche Terrain- und Baubank AG in Essen.
