Robert Lewis Colbert (born July 26, 1931 in Long Beach , California ) is an American actor .

Life

Colbert began his acting career in the late 1950s with small supporting roles without being named in the credits . He played then until the mid-1960s mainly in western series , including some guest appearances as the brother of James Garner and cousin of Roger Moore in the series Maverick . Between 1960 and 1964 he also had a recurring role in 77 Sunset Strip . In 1965 he was cast for one of the leading roles in the science fiction series Time Tunnel . The series, however, won an EmmyAward and good ratings already canceled after a season of 30 episodes. Between 1973 and 1982 he played the character of Stuart Brooks in the soap opera Shadow of Passion . In addition, he had guest roles in various successful series formats in the 1970s and 1980s. One of his few feature film appearances is the comedy Amazons on the Moon from 1987. His last appearance so far was in the mid-1990s in two episodes of the Baywatch series with David Hasselhoff in the lead role, who had played his son-in-law in Shadow of Passion .

Colbert was married to the songwriter Dotty Harmony between 1961 and 1976 , who composed for Ricky Nelson , among others . The marriage had two children.
