After his marriage in 1949 and financially supported by his wife, he began to work as an artist. He created 48 poems, short stories, translations by the American poet Emily Dickinson , the French poet Henri Rousseau and the poet Andri Peer and around 70 paintings. He also made drawings, one of which was published in pencil in the monthly Swiss cultural magazine du in December 1951. From 1950 to 1951 he published the monthly literary magazine Essence . On August 8, 1951, while visiting relatives in Bedano, the artist died when torrential rain during a storm caused a mudslide to bury the house in which he was staying.

reception

He left behind a largely unpublished poetic and painterly oeuvre, which testifies to an outstanding dual talent. Some things were published posthumously and received abroad. In September and October 1951 a commemorative exhibition by Robert E. Konrad took place under the patronage of the graphic collection of the ETH Zurich in the Museum Strauhof in Zurich. In 1955, works by Konrad were exhibited in Albert Wiener's ABC gallery in Winterthur .
