Robert Charles Fick (born March 15 , 1974 in Torrance , California , USA ) is a professional baseball player in Major League Baseball . The first baseman is currently a free agent . In 2002 he was nominated for the MLB All-Star Game .

Fick, Who Flips Left But Throws Right, was drafted in the 1996 fifth round of the 1996 Amateur Draft by the Detroit Tigers . He made his Major League debut in 1998 for the Tigers. Fuck's breakthrough came in 2001 when he improved his season best to 19 home runs . In the following season, 2002, Fick was appointed to the All-Star Team of the American League after another strong year on the offensive . In addition, in 2002 he led the statistics for the most assists (21) in the MLB.

For the 2003 season, Fick signed with the Atlanta Braves .

In the 2003 National League Division Series ( see World Series 2003 ) Fick hit the headlines because he hit Eric Karros , the Chicago Cubs ' first baseman , on the tentacle when he reached first base . In retrospect, Fick admitted that it was deliberate assault , after which he was banished to the bank by the Atlanta Braves and had to pay a fine of US $ 25,000. Shortly thereafter, Fick was released from the Braves. Despite much, including public, discussions about the reasons, it seems that Fuck's unsportsmanlike behavior was the reason for the dismissal.

As a result, Fick changed teams several times and was in action for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays , San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals , but could not repeat his earlier successes.

Defensively, Fick is a very versatile player. He started his career in MLB as a catcher , but has now played significantly more games as a first baseman and outfielder .
