Robert Giegling
Robert Giegling (born April 14, 1983 in Heilbronn ) is a German trumpeter of modern jazz , rhythm and blues and hip-hop .
Life
Robert Giegling began with classical piano lessons, the trumpet was added at the age of eight. From 2003 to 2008 he studied jazz trumpet with Stephan Zimmermann at the State University for Music and Performing Arts Mannheim . During his studies he took part in master classes with Ack van Rooyen , Ingrid Jensen , Malte Burba , Alex Sipiagin , Jiggs Whigham and Steffen Schorn .
Robert Giegling played in the LandesJugendJazzorchester BW and in the BundesJazzOrchester ( BuJazzO ) under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer and John Ruocco . In 2005 he won first prize with the Mannheim Jazz Orchestra at the competition of German music academies in Hamburg.
In 2009 he recorded the debut album "Tafelrunde" on Neuklang Records with the Robert Giegling Quintet, together with Markus Ehrlich, Christoph Heckeler, Joel Locher and Marcel Gustke. The album was broadcast on Hessian, South German, North German radio and Germany radio. With the second album "Rough Songs", on which Daniel Mudrack plays the drums, the Robert Giegling Quintet released an album on Unit Records in 2015 that combines hardbop and hip-hop influences. In addition to his quintet, he founded the hip-hop / R&B band IIL FAT with the Spanish-Mozambican singer Simonal Bie and the band Three Trumpets with the pianist Gee Hye Lee , the trumpeters Volker Deglmann and Martin Auer . Together with Calvin Bynum , Daniel Denmark , Lukas Pfeil , Christoph Gärtner, Joel Büttner and Sam Brandt , Giegling forms the hip hop formation "Archie Banks". She was seen on July 22, 2018 together with the group Die Fantastischen Vier at the Jazzopen Stuttgart .
