Jazz Open Stuttgart is a year since 1994 in Stuttgart held forming Jazz - Festival . In addition to jazz, other styles of music ( rock , pop , soul , blues ) are also represented there. The festival takes place annually in July on six festival stages : Ehrenhof am Neuen Schloss, Altes Schloss, Scala Ludwigsburg , SpardaWelt event center, Bix Jazzclub .

The organizer and founder is the Opus Festival, Event and Management GmbH.

Founded in 1994, the festival has grown steadily over the years and now brings around 40 acts to the stage every year over 10 days - including national and international stars, numerous Grammy winners. Newcomers also appear. Around 40,000 visitors come to the festival every year.

Broadcast records

Individual concerts are regularly recorded for radio ( SWR1 , SWR2 ) and television ( ARD / SWR / 3sat ). In 2013 the first live stream took place on Arte Live Web, two more followed in 2015. In 2015, a 3-hour festival documentary was created for the first time with a summary of six concerts on two days and numerous backstage reports, which were broadcast on July 25, 2015 on SWR television was broadcast.

German Jazz Trophy

The German Jazz Trophy has been presented at the festival since 2010 . It was awarded to Jacques Loussier , Dave Holland , Monty Alexander , Lee Konitz , Chris Barber , Ralph Towner , Klaus Doldinger , Dee Dee Bridgewater and Abdullah Ibrahim .
