Christian Sylvester Sands (born May 22, 1989 ) is an American jazz pianist .

Live and act

Sands took piano lessons from the age of four and wrote his first own compositions at the age of five. He received a Bachelor of Arts from the Manhattan School of Music ; during this time Billy Taylor was his mentor. He worked with Bobby Sanabria and contributed to his album Kenya Revisited (with Cándido Camero ), which won two Grammy Awards ( Best Latin Jazz Piano Solo and Best Latin Jazz Album ). He also played with Wynton Marsalis , Stefon Harris , Lou Donaldson , Avery Sharpe , James Moody , Bill Evans , Russell Malone , Rufus Reid , Chip Jackson , Terence Blanchard , Alex Riel , Louis Hayes , Patti Austin and Wycliffe Gordon . In 2003 he presented his debut album Footprints (Stanza), which he recorded in a trio with Jeff Fuller and Jesse Hameen. He has been a member of Christian McBride's trio and its quintets Inside Straight since the early 2010s . In the field of jazz he was involved in 18 recording sessions between 2000 and 2017, including a. also with Ulysses Owens .
