Robert Hoeniger

Robert Hoeniger (born June 27, 1855 in Ratibor , Upper Silesia , † October 23, 1929 in Berlin ) was a German historian, non-fiction author and publicist.

Youth and education

Robert Hoeniger studied philosophy at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and wrote the dissertation Course and Spread of the Black Death in Germany from 1348 to 1351 and its connection with the persecution of the Jews and hostage trips in those years in 1881 . In 1888 he received his doctorate in philosophy and taught at the Prussian War Academy and the Berlin School of Commerce . From 1894 he was titular professor , then in 1920 full honorary professor of the Philosophical Faculty at the University of Berlin.

Hoeniger wrote over 35 non-fiction books and 40 publications; primarily about economic and social history in Europe. He studied and evaluated the shrine books on Hohen Strasse in Cologne's Jewish quarter , in the St. Kolumba and St. Laurenz parishes and the scrolls in Andernach .

Robert Hoeniger died on October 23, 1929 at the age of 74 in Berlin as a result of a serious accident. He had been scientifically active to the end. He was buried on October 28, 1929 in the Heerstraße cemetery in today's Berlin-Westend district . The grave has not been preserved.
