Robert Maurice Fresco (born October 18, 1930 in Culver City , California , † February 14, 2014 in Manhattan , New York ) was an American screenwriter , producer and director who has made films such as Tarantula , The Secret of the Stone Monster or Where please is there beer at the front? became internationally known.

life and career

Robert M. Fresco, born in 1930 to a Jewish family who immigrated from Turkey, began writing screenplays for the cinema in his mid-twenties. In 1955 Tarantula was created for director Jack Arnold and in 1957 The Secret of the Stone Monster for director John Sherwood. He has also written scripts for television series and documentaries. For the short documentary Czechoslovakia 1968 he won the Oscar in this category together with Denis Sanders in 1970 .

In addition to his career as a screenwriter for film and television in Hollywood , he taught courses on topics such as film, television and communication at Columbia University and Hofstra University .

Robert M. Fresco has written, produced and directed over a dozen screenplays during his career. On February 14, 2014, Fresco died in Manhattan at the age of 83.
