Robert Martin (* 1833 in Frankfort Springs , Pennsylvania , † 1897 in Guthrie , Oklahoma ) was an American lawyer and Republican politician. In this capacity he served as mayor and governor .

After a long career as a lawyer in Ohio, he moved to El Reno in 1889 . As secretary to the governor, he was appointed interim governor of the Oklahoma Territory himself in 1891 when his predecessor George Washington Steele went to Indiana . He held this office from October 18, 1891 to February 2, 1892, and was then appointed mayor of Guthrie .
