Charles Bradford "Brad" Henry (born June 10, 1963 in Shawnee , Oklahoma ) is an American politician ( Democratic Party ) and former governor of the state of Oklahoma.

After graduating from Shawnee High School , he attended the University of Oklahoma , where he earned his bachelor's degree in economics in 1985 and graduated in law in 1988. He then returned to Shawnee to work in his father's law firm, who was also a lawyer.

From 1992 until his election as governor, he was a member of the Oklahoma Senate . In 2002 he won the governor election with 43 percent of the vote against Republican Steve Largent and independent Gary Richardson; in November 2006 he was re-elected, this time with a share of 66 percent against Ernest Istook . Since the state constitution limits the term of a governor to eight years, Henry could not run again in 2010. He was succeeded in January 2011 by Republican Mary Fallin , who served as his lieutenant governor from 2003 to 2007 and defeated her own successor to this post, Jari Askins , in the election.

He is married to Kim Henry (née Blain) and has three daughters.
