Robert Neumüller

Robert Neumüller (born January 5, 1959 in Zwettl-Niederösterreich ) is an Austrian cameraman , director and screenwriter .

Life

Robert Neumüller graduated from the Bundesrealgymnasium Krems , studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna . There he graduated in 1985 with a degree in camera, script and cultural management with unanimous distinction. From 1985 to 1993 he was employed as a production assistant at ORF . Since 1993 he has worked as a freelance cameraman for film and television and since 2001 also as a director and screenwriter.

He is married to Catrin Neumüller (née Wesemann) and has three sons, Georg (* 1991), Jakob (* 1997), Simon (* 2001).

Robert Neumüller has worked as a cameraman on over 200 projects, including feature films, television films, series and documentaries. From 2002 to 2013 he was a Scientific Advisory Board at Danube University Krems, the Austrian Film Gallery and since 2013 he has been a member of the board of trustees of the Otto Mauer Fund.

Portraits and documentaries from the fields of culture, history, contemporary history and religion form the focus of his work today, mostly in the combination of script, camera and direction. His clients include ORF, arte, ARD, ZDF, 3-sat. He has also edited a book for each of his films about Axel Corti and Joe Zawinul .

In 2016 he was awarded the Axel Corti Prize for his work , “for his touching portraits and moving historical documentaries” (the jury gave reasons).
