Roberto Zorzi
Roberto Maria Zorzi (* around 1962 in Verona ) is an Italian jazz and fusion musician ( guitar ).
Live and act
Zorzi initially played drums, electric bass and trombone; then he switched to guitar, orienting himself towards Eric Clapton before discovering Derek Bailey . With the quintet NAD he won the Indipendenti 87 competition of Fare musica magazine and in 1989 recorded the album Ghosts, which is reminiscent of Albert Ayler . He was also the artistic director of the Verona Jazz Festival . From the end of the 1980s he also worked in the Italian and international music scene; In 1989 recordings were made together with Albert Mangelsdorff , Roberto Ottaviano , Franco D'Andrea, Ernst Reijseger , Paolo Damiani and Trilok Gurtu ( Capriccio a Milano ). In the 1990s and 2000s he played in various band projects with Henry Kaiser , Chris Cutler , Joey Baron and Elliott Sharp . In 2018 he presented the trio album Facanapa & Umarells and the World Wide Crash with bassist Michael Manring and drummer Scott Amendola .
