Robin Hedström (born March 16, 1989 ) is a Swedish - Icelandic ice hockey player who has been under contract with Hisingens IK in Swedish Division 3 , the fifth highest division in the country, since 2016 . His older brother Dennis is in goal at Göteborgs IK and is also an Icelandic international.

Career

Robin Hedström began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of the then Swedish second division club Växjö Lakers Hockey , for which he made it to the second highest Swedish youth class in both the U-18 and U-20 areas. In his last junior year, in addition to his involvement in Växjö, he also played in Division 2 , Sweden's fourth-highest division, at Nässjö HC. After stints at Alvesta SK and Lenhovda IF , he moved to Åseda IF in 2011 , which - like the aforementioned club - also played in Division 2. With the team from Småland , he had to relegate to Division 3 in 2012 , but succeeded in returning to Division 2 in the following year. In 2014, he returned to Alvesta SK, but only one year later he switched to league rivals Bäcken HC . Since 2016 he has been playing for the Hisingens IK in Division 3.

International

Although he has so far only been active for Swedish clubs, Robin Hedström has always played in the Icelandic national team . He played in Division II at the World Championships in 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 when he was voted best player for the Icelanders.
